Spotlight on two newly processed collections.

June 4, 2009 by lacol

The staff of the Louisiana and Special Collections Department is proud to present you with two newly processed manuscript collections, the Liongel G. Whitfield Collection, and the John C. Kelly and Michael J. Rosa Collection.

The Lionel G. Whitfield Collection contains the correspondence and personal papers of Mr. Whitfield, who served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  The correspondence mostly consists of letters from Mr. Whitfield to his mother in New Orleans, between the years of 1950 and 1952.

The John C. Kelly and Michael J. Rosa Collection focuses on ephemera related to the New Orleans gay community during Mardi Gras.  Included in the collection are ball invitations, programs, and other assorted memorabilia from various carnival krewes between the years 1977 to 2006.

Louisiana Supreme Court Materials Digitization Project Update.

May 5, 2009 by lacol

With generous contributions from select grants, the University of New Orleans has been given the opportunity to digitize select portions of the Louisiana Supreme Court documents. During this period, cases from 1861-1877 will be unavailable to researchers, but will soon be available in digital form following this brief period of inconvenience. We thank you for your understanding regarding this matter, and look forward to expanding our services and collections in this and many other ways in the future.
